Innovative Technologies Take Center Stage At Day Two Of MECTW

Demand for innovative technologies in the cleaning and laundry industry stole the show at the Middle East Cleaning Technology Week this year

UAE’s cleaning sector is fast adopting to innovative technologies; this was evident from the latest products demoed at Middle East Cleaning Technology Week (MECTW) held at Dubai World Centre from 7-9 November 2017. About 130 exhibitors from 15 countries participated in this show displaying some of their best cleaning technology products.

The key highlight of the second day was the 3rd edition of Gulf Laundrex Conference that saw Tim Bacon, Director Middle East, and Africa, General Manager, Alliance Laundry Systems BVBA (Dubai Branch) as the keynote speaker. The other experts who were also a part of this conference were Anil Shah, Senior Manager (Business Support), Linencraft; Gary Teeley, General Manager, Al Habtoor Laundry Services; and Jorge Damasceno, General Manager, Bubble laundry and WellBeing Healthcare Laundry; touched upon the standards followed in the laundry industry.

At the exhibition, the ‘Unsung City Cleaning Hero Awards’ were awarded to the outdoor cleaning and waste management staff in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to recognise the dedicated services towards the cleaning sector. The workers, nominated by the respective municipalities and waste management authorities, received a cash prize and a certificate of appreciation.

Companies launched unique products at the exhibition this year. Intercare introduced the Meclean Trailerjet, a mobile high pressure (up to 350Bar) trailer with the unique SteamPLUS® function. They also launched Tork® Peakserve, a new kind of hand wiping system – specifically tailored for high-traffic areas.

Talking about the products at MECTW, Richard Nouira, Managing Director, Karcher said, “Karcher not only has product innovations that are eco-efficient with better cleaning results and easy maintenance; but we have products that explores what is demanding for the future. We manage and track our products through a GPS system by providing transparency for operators in large companies, and through this maintain connectivity for smart cleaning in the future.”

“We have a lot of new products but what is interesting this year is our Spray Pro Inox. The initial model came with a tank attached to it but we have removed that tank and innovatively placed the solution inside the steel handle. Now it is lightweight, efficient and cleans 70-75sqm. of area with just one filling of 360Ml,” commented Felix Krumme, Commercial Director, Blitz Blank Cleaning Equipment FZ-LLC, also an authorized distributor of Vileda Professional in the UAE.

The largest event for the cleaning sector in the region hosted live demos for innovative products in the cleaning, car care and laundry sectors. The Middle East Cleaning Technology Week (MECTW), also addressed the importance of going green, and the ‘Green Zone’, the dedicated area within the exhibition, which allowed the industry to source eco-friendly/green products.
