Kuwait Towers

Kuwait Towers - which are located at Ras-Agoza cape, and constitute an important part of the waterfront known for its touristic and recreational features, were inaugurated in March 1979. This landmark includes three towers: the largest is 187 meters high and features a restaurant, a snack bar, a cafe, and a high viewing sphere which makes a complete rotation every 30 minutes. The second tower is 147 meters high and was designed as a reservoir for one million gallons of fresh water. The smallest tower provides lighting for the two other towers and supplies the area with electricity.

Kuwait Grand Mosque

Kuwait Grand Mosque - The mosque is an outstanding example of Islamic architecture, located in the heart of the city. It is also a focal point and a meeting place, its light emanating wisdom. Kuwait, since its foundation, has paid great attention to the construction of mosques. It established the Grand Mosque in the heart of the city opposite to Seif Palace, the official palace of the State, as an architectural work of great spiritual and cultural significance.

Liberation Tower

Liberation Tower - The Telecommunication Centre, which was inaugurated on 15 March 1996, is located in the heart of Kuwait City and stands on an area of 21 thousand square meters. The Liberation Tower is the most important component of this centre. Its height of 372 meters makes it the fourth highest tower after those in Toronto, Moscow, and Germany. The tower is comprised of two main parts: the lower part, which is built of concrete, represents the main skeleton of the tower, meanwhile the upper part is a post made of metal.

The Ministries Complex

The Ministries Complex - The Ministries Complex, which has an area of 150,000 square meters, is located in the heart of Kuwait City overlooking Al-Soor street. Its construction, which started in 1977, was completed in 1981. It accommodates six ministries: Housing, Endowment, Industry and Commerce, Social Affairs, Justice and Finance. The complex holds 60,000 employees and fourteen joint-buildings; its canopied courtyards have lifts to serve employees and visitors.

Al-Hazra

Al-Hazra - Original Fishing Method: Since its foundation, Kuwait has relied on fishing methods as a main source of food. Different fishing methods and instruments have been used such as fishhooks and various types of nets. Al-Hazra is one of the original fishing methods used by Kuwaitis.It entails setting up a barrier of reeds around a limited area off the coastline. At the end of the barrier, an enclosure made of two parts is erected. The bigger part is called “Al Housh”, followed by a smaller one called “Al Ser”, which usually lies at the limits of ebb tide.

New Seif Palace

New Seif Palace - New Seif Palace is an example of Islamic architecture inlaid with Kuwaiti art derived from its environment. This palace includes three components: the Amiri Divan, the Crown Prince Divan and centres for public utilities. Construction started in 1988, stopped during the Iraqi occupation in August 1990, and was completed in August 1992.
